Toyota Land Cruiser 250 & Lexus GX550 Wheel Fitment Guide — Sizes, Offsets, and the 1958 Edition Trap
The Land Cruiser 250 and Lexus GX550 share the same TNGA-F platform — one hub spec, one bolt pattern, one set of rules. But there is a body width difference between trim variants that sends people to the wrong offset, and a hub spec change that makes every Prado 150 and GX460 wheel incompatible. This guide covers both.
Hub Specs — What Changed from Previous Generations
- Bolt pattern: 6×139.7 — unchanged
- Centre bore: 95.1mm — critical change from 106.1mm on Prado 150 / GX460
- Wheel nut thread: M14×1.5 — upgraded from M12×1.5
- Torque spec: 131 Nm
Two things changed simultaneously from the previous generation: the studs grew from M12 to M14, and the hub bore shrank from 106.1mm to 95.1mm. The result is that no wheel from a Prado 150 or GX460 will fit without modification — the smaller bore means a Prado wheel physically cannot seat on the new hub without hub-centric rings, and the M14 stud is thicker than the lug holes in old wheels allow.
This hub spec is shared with the 2024+ Tacoma, 2025+ 4Runner, 2022+ Tundra, 2022+ Sequoia, and Lexus GX550. Wheels are cross-compatible across all of these platforms.
The 1958 Edition Body Width Problem
This is the single most common fitment mistake on the LC250 / GX550 platform, and it isn't obvious from spec sheets.
The platform comes in two distinct body widths:
- Wide body: LC250 Land Cruiser, LC250 First Edition, and all GX550 variants (Premium / Luxury / Overtrail). Factory offset: 18×7.5 ET+60 with 265/70R18.
- Narrow body: LC250 1958 Edition (round headlights, retro exterior). Factory offset: 18×7.5 ET+70 with 245/70R18. Fenders are approximately 25mm narrower per side.
The offset difference this creates is significant. An offset of ET+35 on a wide-body LC250 or GX550 places the wheel face exactly flush with the fender flare — a clean, intentional look. That same wheel on a 1958 Edition sits 25mm further outboard than the fender allows, producing visible poke that looks unplanned and creates arch clearance problems that don't exist on the wide-body variants. For the 1958 Edition, the equivalent flush fitment requires ET+45 to ET+50 — the body is narrower, so the wheel needs to sit further inward to achieve the same visual result.

Why the Factory Offset Looks Wrong
From the factory, both the LC250 and GX550 run ET+60 or higher. On a 7.5" wide wheel, this tucks the tyre well inside the arch — the fender flare has significant empty space around it, and the truck looks narrower than its actual body width suggests. Almost every aftermarket build on this platform starts by reducing offset to fill the arch properly.

Both sizes clear completely on stock suspension with no contact at any steering angle. The spare tyre fits in the stock underbody carrier. The correct starting point for owners who want a meaningful upgrade over the factory tyre without any mechanical changes to the truck.
34" — The Sweet Spot
Sizes: 295/70R18, 285/75R18
Offset: ET+35 to ET+45
Lift required: None (leveling optional)
Mods required: Remove front mud flaps
This size range is consistently described as the best fitment on the platform — genuine additional ground clearance over 33", fills the wide-body arch correctly at ET+35, and requires no lift. The only modification is removing the front mud flaps — bolt-on plastic pieces with no structural function.
At stock height with mud flaps removed, the spare tyre fits under the truck at reduced pressure. No permanent body modification required.
35" — Committed Build
Sizes: 35×12.50R18, 315/70R18
Offset: ET+20 to ET+30 (wide body only)
Lift required: Strongly recommended (1.5–2")
Mods required: Multiple
35" fitment at stock height is technically possible on the wide-body LC250 and GX550 but requires removing all of the following: front and rear mud flaps, front canards (aerodynamic deflectors in the front arch), and the crash brackets behind each front wheel. The inner arch liner also requires heat-forming to gain final clearance.
The spare tyre is a separate problem. A 35" wheel does not fit in the stock underbody carrier regardless of pressure. Carrying a full-size spare requires a swing-out carrier on the rear bumper — which then requires relocating the factory rear camera and parking sensors, adds weight to the tail of the truck, and significantly increases the total project cost. Budget for this before committing to 35".
At ET0 or negative on stock suspension, a 35" tyre describes a wide arc during steering lock and contacts the inner arch with enough force to damage the liner. ET0 on this platform is a lift-only offset.

The Scrub Radius Warning
The factory offset on this platform is ET+60 to ET+70 — unusually high for a body-on-frame SUV. The geometry is designed around this offset, and reducing it significantly changes the scrub radius of the front axle. At ET0, the wheel centre tracks well outboard of the steering axis, which produces noticeable steering feedback changes and can cause the front tyres to follow road camber more aggressively.
This is manageable with a lift and proper alignment — but it is a reason to stay in the ET+25 to ET+35 range rather than going lower unless the suspension has been properly set up to handle the geometry change.
