BMW M3 G80 / M4 G82 Wheel Fitment Guide — Sizes, Offsets, and What Actually Fits
The G80 M3 and G82 M4 share the same platform, the same bolt pattern, and the same wheel fitment logic. Whether you're running a sedan or coupe, this guide covers everything from OEM specs to aggressive street fitment — with clearance limits you need to know before ordering.
BMW M3 G80 / M4 G82 Factory Wheel Specs
- Bolt pattern: 5×112
- Centre bore: 66.6mm
- Thread pitch: M14×1.25
- Years: 2021–present
Important note for BMW owners upgrading from older platforms: the G80/G82 uses 5×112, not the 5×120 pattern found on F-series and earlier BMWs. Wheels from F30, F80, E90, and other 5×120 cars are not direct bolt-on — adapters required.
OEM Wheel Specifications
Both the M3 G80 and M4 G82 run a staggered setup from the factory — wider rear wheel and tyre to support the RWD platform under power.
| Front | Rear | |
|---|---|---|
| Size | 19×9.5 ET29 | 19×10.5 ET22 |
| Tyre | 275/35R19 | 285/30R19 |
The factory offset is relatively low for a modern BMW — ET29 front and ET22 rear — which already gives the G80/G82 a more aggressive stance than most sedans and coupes in this segment. Aftermarket fitment typically pushes further in the same direction.
Aftermarket Fitment — Recommended Setups
OEM+ Street (Closest to Stock)
Adds width and slightly reduces offset for a more filled arch without requiring any modification. Works on stock suspension.
- Front: 19×10 ET25 | 275/35R19 or 285/35R19
- Rear: 19×10 ET12–25 | 285/35R19
Aggressive Street (Most Popular)
The most common aftermarket setup on the G80/G82. Steps up to 20" with wider tyres, significantly more visual presence. Confirmed without fender modification on stock suspension.
- Front: 20×10 ET25 | 275/30R20
- Rear: 20×11 ET15–20 | 305/25R20
Square Setup
Same size all four corners — allows tyre rotation and simplifies ordering. Popular for track use where even tyre wear matters.
- All corners: 19×10 ET25 | 275/35R19
Track Setup
Drops to 18" to run taller sidewall tyres — more cushioning over kerbs, better tyre deformation under lateral load, and lighter rotational mass for quicker acceleration and braking response.
- Front: 18×10 ET35 | 285/35R18
- Rear: 18×11 ET25 | 315/30R18
Clearance Limits — What Fits Without Modification
The G80/G82 has generous arch clearance compared to many performance cars, but there are hard limits. Exceeding them on stock suspension causes rubbing — either at the inner arch liner or the outer fender lip under compression.
| Stock Suspension | With Fender Work | |
|---|---|---|
| Front max | 20×10.5 ET20 | 20×11 ET15 |
| Rear max | 20×12 ET10–15 | 20×12.5 ET5–10 |
Key warning: On the G80/G82, a 5mm offset difference equals approximately 5mm of wheel position change — enough to cause rubbing at the limits. Spec precisely. This is why custom forged wheels machined to your exact offset are the right approach for fitments at or near the clearance limits.
Coilovers and Camber — How They Change Fitment
Lowering the G80/G82 on coilovers (25–75mm drop) significantly changes what fits:
- Outer arch clearance increases — the wheel moves away from the fender lip at lower ride height
- Inner arch clearance decreases — the wheel moves closer to the inner liner and suspension components
- Aggressive fitments that clear on stock suspension may rub at the inner arch on coilovers
Running negative camber (−2° to −3°, common on track setups) tilts the top of the wheel inward, which helps inner arch clearance and allows slightly wider fitment — but accelerates outer tyre edge wear on street use.
If the car is on coilovers or will be lowered, specify this when ordering — fitment must be verified for your actual ride height, not stock.
Brake Clearance
The M3 G80 and M4 G82 are available with two brake configurations:
- Standard M brakes — clear all standard 19" and 20" aftermarket fitments without issue
- M Carbon Ceramic brakes (optional) — larger caliper, requires clearance verification for specific spoke designs at 19"
Specify your brake package when ordering custom forged wheels. We verify caliper clearance for your exact spec before manufacturing.
Frequently Asked Questions
What bolt pattern is the BMW M3 G80 and M4 G82?
Both use 5×112 with a 66.6mm centre bore and M14×1.25 thread pitch. Note this is different from the 5×120 pattern on older F-series BMWs — those wheels are not direct bolt-on.
What is the best wheel size for the BMW M3 G80?
20×10 front and 20×11 rear at ET25/ET15–20 is the most popular aftermarket choice — fills the arch properly, works on stock suspension, and gives significantly more visual presence than OEM 19". For track use, 18×10 front and 18×11 rear with 285/315 tyres is the performance-optimised choice.
Can I run square setup on the M3 G80 / M4 G82?
Yes. 19×10 ET25 with 275/35R19 all round is a common square setup — allows tyre rotation and works well for track days. The car handles well in square configuration despite the factory staggered setup.
Do I need hub-centric rings for aftermarket wheels on the G80/G82?
If the aftermarket wheel's centre bore is larger than 66.6mm, yes — hub-centric rings are needed to centre the wheel correctly. Without them, the wheel is centred by the bolts alone, which causes vibration. Custom forged wheels machined to exactly 66.6mm eliminate this entirely.
What changes with coilovers on the M3 G80 fitment?
Lowering increases outer arch clearance but reduces inner clearance. Aggressive fitments that work on stock suspension may rub at the inner arch on coilovers. Always specify your ride height and suspension setup when ordering custom wheels.
